hi in this article, I will show you how to extend the volume grayed out in windows 10 using live g-parted tools without losing data

Extend Volume option grayed out

After removing kali Linux from my pc. I can add the space unallocated to my windows partition.

Step1: search for Computer Management and just click on it and it will give an interface like this, and click on disk management.

Step2: I find the extend volume option is grayed out in the disk management tool because the Windows operating system lets you extend any volume provided there is free or unallocated space on its right side.

Step3: if there is unallocated space on the left side you will not be offered this option and it will appear grayed out to solve this problem you'll need tools like g-parted live to edit your partitions before that you should make a full backup to safeguard your files and windows 10 setup.

Step4: you can download the iso file from the gparted.org website then make a bootable USB and boot on it.

Step5: Now restart your computer.

Extend the Windows Partition

Step6: my laptop is hp. I push on the escape button for the startup menu and then f9 for the boot menu.

Step7: I use a multi-bootable USB from iso with ventoy you can read the article by just clicking here. now boot on g-parted live tools.

Step8: click on g-parted live.

Step9: push enter choose language and push enter.

Step10: the g parted tool starts automatically.

Step11: to resize the disk right click on the partition and click on resize move.

Step12: now with the mouse click to move the partition to the left and grow it click resize move.

Step13: will get pop up like moving a partition might cause your operating system to fail to boot. Just click on ok.

Step14: Now apply the modification and wait for the process to finish.

Step15: Just click on apply.

Step16: Now restart your computer and verify your disk size.

Step17: open windows 10 and open the disk management tool.

Step18: congratulations you have extended the partition without losing data.
